Understanding the Rule of Law: When asked to describe the concept of the rule of law in simple terms, Helena de Felipe emphasized the importance of citizens, governments, and institutions abiding by laws within a democratic state. She stressed that the enforcement of laws by the courts is paramount for ensuring a secure environment under the rule of law.

She highlighted the diverse perspectives obtained from civil society, governments, and institutions in each country, making it challenging to draw direct comparisons.

Transition from Authoritarian to Democratic Regime: Drawing on her personal experience during the transition from an authoritarian to a democratic regime, Helena de Felipe described it as a positive example to follow. She attributed the success of the transition to changes in various aspects, including the influence of cinema, the press, and legal reforms. She acknowledged the crucial role played by the head of state, the king of Spain, in maintaining order and establishing a full democracy.

Regulating Social Media Platforms: Addressing the growing influence of social media platforms in public debate and democratic life, Helena de Felipe advocated for regulation. She emphasized the need to regulate ethical principles and factors that can impact all citizens, citing concerns such as defamation and the spread of misinformation.
